Schools experienced a massive expansion of technology over the past few years. They put in place 1-to-1 computing programs, are now using a record number of digital learning tools, and improved the availability of home-internet access for students. It was essentially a “fast-forward” for the evolution of digital learning in schools.

But that expansion raises important questions: Is the availability of all these new technologies transforming teaching and learning? Or at least having a positive effect? Or is it an investment that is simply not paying off in the ways schools hoped it would?

Technology Counts 2023 takes a hard look at those questions, paying particular attention to the opportunities and challenges schools face as they look ahead to 2023-24.
